Inspect a real light curve, open numeric FITS data and keep the data and method together in a research package. Begin with a source, a unit and a clearly stated question.
Local files are not uploaded. Opening this page makes no data request; a packaged sample is fetched from this site only when you press “Open sample”. External archives open separately.

LOCAL ANALYSIS
Specify units when a local CSV does not supply them. Editing a unit label does not convert numbers. FITS column units are read from its header.
The chart displays at most 1,200 regularly sampled points; statistics use all valid X/Y pairs. Missing values are neither connected nor set to zero. Error bars are not drawn; a source error column can be selected separately.

Compare two intervals
To describe a brightness dip in flux with a positive baseline: Δ = (median(baseline) − median(selected)) / median(baseline). Each interval needs at least three valid points and the intervals must not overlap.
This descriptive result is not a physical transit fit, detrending, significance test or new planet discovery. Even when source measurement errors exist, this operation computes no new uncertainty or confidence interval. A “transit depth” has no physical meaning for Kp.
Linear min–max grayscale display. FITS row 0 is displayed at the bottom. Missing pixels appear black and are not equivalent to measured zeros. No WCS, astrometry, multi-band colour composition or photometry is applied.

Rebuild the same analysis
CSV contains the entire opened table. The JSON package keeps a data copy, SHA-256 hashes, selected columns, units, intervals, method and statistics together. Save a new version separately.

Kepler-8: observed transit light curve
Quality-filtered, median-scaled PDC light curve from Kepler quarter 0 observations of the known Kepler-8 b system.

Of 476 source rows, 453 rows with finite TIME, PDCSAP_FLUX and PDCSAP_FLUX_ERR and SAP_QUALITY=0 were retained. Flux and errors were divided by median 49778.21484375 e−/s; times and order were retained. No folding, smoothing, detrending or new physical fit was performed. CSV values are rounded to the shown decimal precision.
The time axis is BJD(TDB) − 2454833 in days, not UTC. Source DATE-OBS / DATE-END labels describe the coverage. Median-scaled flux is dimensionless. Download the original FITS and open it as a local file to inspect the original PDC columns.
This sample investigates a known transit. Interval comparison is not a new planet discovery or a physical transit model. The source error column is retained; this comparison does not calculate a new confidence interval.

NOAA: dated Kp selection

Source time_tag was interpreted as UTC and converted to hours from the first record. Kp and station_count were copied to CSV without alteration. Missing measurements were not filled with zero. Later provider updates do not change this retained version.
Kp is a source product describing geomagnetic activity; this tool generates no weather forecast, hazard alert or causal proof. Time coverage and station coverage constrain interpretation.

CSV / TSV
UTF-8; comma, semicolon or tab delimiters; quoted fields. Headers must be unique; data cells must be finite numbers or missing values. Empty, NaN, null, NA, N/A and — are missing. Text cells, malformed quotes and mismatched column counts produce an error.
FITS
Uncompressed SIMPLE FITS with complete 2880-byte blocks. Primary 2D image: up to 262,144 total pixels within 2048 × 2048 dimension limits. BINTABLE: fixed-width scalar numeric B/I/J/K/E/D columns. Integer, floating-point, scaling and missing-value headers are read.
Vector, text and logical columns are omitted from the table view. Compressed images, variable-length columns, complex numbers, cubes and WCS solutions are unsupported. This tool is not intended for large archives.
The tool executes no scientific code or user scripts. Distinguish source data from a processed selection; consult mission documentation and measurement uncertainties for scientific publication. Local work is not saved automatically; download the research package before closing the tab.
