NASA PS / NEXT OBSERVATION / LOCAL WORKER

Choose a night.
Compare measurable benefit.

Calculate linear transit windows from twenty published exoplanet records. Inspect sky constraints together with the formal benefit of one assumed new timing measurement. This is a planning scenario, not telescope allocation or a new observation.

Tn = T0 + nPBJDTDB · σ · UTC20 sourced targets

01 / DEFINE YOUR SCENARIO

Site, time and acceptance limits.

The initial site is an illustrative Istanbul value; device location is not read. Dates are UTC. Explicit submission starts a local worker; the form and site are not sent to the server.

Sourced selection · 1–20 targets

No plan has been calculated. The engine and external sources are not loaded on page opening.

02 / NEXT USEFUL WINDOW

Compare under the same assumptions.

Eligible candidates are ranked by conditional information gain from one assumed new timing measurement. Eligible means only that the geometric model satisfies constraints over the whole window; it does not certify weather, instrument precision or scientific importance.

03 / QUANTITIES, TIME AND SCOPE

Carry the prediction’s limits with it.

  • T₀/P covariance is not supplied by this NASA selection: ranking conditionally assumes ρ=0. Windows separately use the σT₀ + |n|σP upper bound. This does not cover all systematic errors or possible true period evolution.
  • BJD_TDB is not UTC. The approximate conversion uses Earth and observer barycentric light time, with a 5 s numerical engineering pad. Dates in 2025–2028 conditionally assume no additional leap second after 2017. Validation covers sampled dates and sites; real observing requires checking the current time service.
  • The window includes the source’s fixed transit duration, baseline on both sides, 3 sigma covariance bound and numerical pad. Transit-duration uncertainty is not additionally modelled. Reported error fields are treated as Gaussian error scales for this conditional comparison.
  • The full window is sampled at intervals no longer than 120 s, with a 0.26 degree altitude guard between samples. Fixed ICRS positions, precession and nutation are used. Proper motion, parallax, refraction, terrain and weather are not applied.
  • The selection contains 20 bright archive rows with explicit time systems and complete error fields; it does not represent the planet population. An archive TTV flag of 0 does not prove an absence of transit-timing variations.
  • Budget: up to 14 days, 20 targets, 400 central events and 60000 geometric samples. Uncertainty-inclusive windows longer than 12 hours are ineligible. The calculation concerns conditional error reduction for one event time, not a period re-fit or new discovery.
